About Our Director

Cecelia StearmanCecelia Stearman is the founder and director of the Community Gospel Choir.

Cecelia is a native of Mississippi and received a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance at Mississippi College in 1986. Cecelia taught voice in Mississippi before deciding to pursue her career in Europe. Cecelia is not only a talented director but is an outstanding mezzo soprano, having performed on four continents.

From September of 1990 to March of 2003, Cecelia lived in Frankfurt, Germany and Paris, France respectively. In 2000, she co-founded and directed the 85-voice Emmanuel Gospel Choir, of Rueil-Malmaison (France), for which she received the medaille de ville of that historic city.

She now resides in Kirkwood and is married to Scott Stearman, pastor of Kirkwood Baptist Church.
